Orientation camp is the first major stage of the NYSC service year. Good preparation makes registration easier and reduces the stress of arriving without an important document or personal item.

Keep important documents together in a waterproof folder. Carry originals where NYSC specifically requires them and make enough photocopies for routine processing.

Camp life is communal, so small everyday items can make a big difference.

Health and Medication
If you use prescribed medicine, travel with enough supply and keep it in the original packaging where possible. Carry relevant medical information if you have a condition that camp medical staff should know about.
Do not rely on another corps member for prescription medicine.
Items to Avoid
NYSC rules prohibit or restrict certain conduct and items in camp. Do not travel with weapons, illegal drugs or documents that are not genuine. Vehicles and motorcycles are also subject to NYSC camp rules.
Money and Security
Carry only what you reasonably need. Use secure banking methods and keep valuable items under your control. Avoid displaying large amounts of cash or expensive items in crowded areas.
